Inside the vintage glass coke bottles, we filled white dendrobium orchids, white stock, white larkspur, white tulips & white freesia…lots of white to pop against the vivid red pintuck satin table linen. First off, their wedding style was Steampunk. Having a bit of a literary background myself, I was totally intrigued by the concept– here’s the rundown in a nutshell. Steampunk is a blended genre that’s part sci fi and part fantasy. It’s kind of a Victorian dystopia– think H. G Wells, Mary Shelly, and Jules Verne for a literary reference (or more modernly, or Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series), and if you like videogames, kind of think of Final Fantasy’s visual style of FF VI. It’s about top hats and curly mustaches, a modernized victorian era style of attire, and a lot of rich and fanciful details. Daniel, our dashing groom, illustrates the style perfectly:

The bride’s bouquet was vintage inspired yet still modern, with the incorporation of the very Victorian pheasant feathers, cream & deep ruby garden roses, deep eggplant calla lilies, fresh sage and chocolate cymbidium orchids along with fern curls, ivory lisianthus, and coffee break roses. It’s one of those bouquets that you make and fall a little bit in love with:

I found this brooch (a vintage piece in a lot of jewlery) and had to incorporate it into the fully wrapped bouquet handle:

It really correlated well with the details on the bride’s empire waist gown with cap sleeves (swoon):

The gentlemen’s bouts consisted of rich eggplant calla lilies with pheasant feathers, hypericum berries, sage, and fern curls:

And seeded eucalyptus, sage, calla liles, freesia, roses, and fern curls made up the ‘maids delicate clutch bouquet, with awesometastic pheasant feather accents:

To coordinate with the bride and embrace the vintage brooch theme, I found matching cameos for the bridesmaids bouquets:

How does it work? Every time someone in Nashville adds an ABG bumper sticker (see below) to their car, takes a pic and emails/tweets it to me, ABG will donate $5 to Haiti via Doctors Without Borders, on behalf of the Nashville bridal community. It’s that simple. Just become a bumping bride or bridal vendor and $5 goes to Haiti. This is a small task but could be just what a doctor needs to deliver supplies, aid to Haiti.

Even if you are not a bride, you can still pick up a bumper sticker to join the cause. We have a version that simply says “Love Nashville Weddings” that would be perfect for ANYONE who follows ABG:). Vendors – if you are attending the vendor dinner this Thursday, I will have them available there – no excuses:).

Remember – ABG will donate $5 to Doctors Without Borders for each bride/ wedding enthusiast who picks up a bridal bumper sticker and puts it on their car and lets us know! Pre-wedding, Bride Cat and I got together to do a mock up of her centerpieces for her wedding. There’s a ton of benefits to the mock up– one, it helps you to visualize what you’ll actually see on your wedding day. If the version in your & my mind is somehow divergent from the actual product, a mock-up lets us tweak and change and make any needed modifications pre-event. That way, you’re super happy with the final, finished centerpieces.

The mockup series:

The bride & groom married at Aerial, a rooftop venue in downtown nashville with some pretty cool lounge furniture. The couches were white, and the linens were a beautiful black and white damask. Tall cocktail tables lined the side of the venue facing a view of Shelby Street Bridge. On the taller tables, we had single stemmed spider mums in slender cylinders:

The low tables had square vases with green jade roses & button mums:

Low square vases were filled with bright green button mums:

The aisle was set up in a space that would later become devoted to the dance floor. Black garden chairs were decorated with sprays of curly willow accented with black ribbon and button mums:

Because we had a bit of rain, we had an overhanging tent. The side panels were gathered together and then embellished with some curly willow magic at the end of the aisle:

Along the rail that overlooked lower Broadway, a series of cylinders with flowers were the main focal point:

I, admittedly, was obsessed with the altar/ledge behind and aisle and took a bazillion pictures:

On the ground on either side of the center of the aisle where the ceremony would be performed, I placed large glass vases with curly willow and orchids, which you can see along with some the other detail pics I took:

Right before the ceremony, we had a little rain– I managed to catch this pic and I love it:

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father:

She looked absolutely stunning, and I was behind the glass getting all teary eyed watching her get married to her true love, Mike. Another shot of the gorgeous bride:

All in all, a beautiful wedding on a perfect day. I close with this image of the bride & groom and their first kiss– thanks so much for letting me be a part of your day, guys!

Cat met with me soon after I opened the studio (and was super sweet & understanding that I didn’t yet have a consult space–it was still in construction). She’s the cutest & sweetest bride (you’ll see what I mean in a sec) and wanted a gorg wedding inspired with shades of green, white, and black.

So, without further adeu, let’s check out their gorgeous wedding, shall we?

Cat, the lovely bride, had some really awesome ideas about what she wanted for her wedding, and when we first met she shared some of those with me– she loved the look of curly willow, and we thought curly willow going down the aisle would be awesome. She wanted lots of green, with touches of black and white. Green spider mums, orchids, and button mums along with hydrangea became our favorite picks for the flowers. The style: elegant, but naturalistic. Styled, but a little bit frayed about the edges. Damask was a love, love, love, and appeared on her tabletop linens.

The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, white dahlia, and white dendrobium orchids, hand tied with double faced Earth satin ribbon in white. A side view:

Winter Standards:

Some of the lovely winter blooms you can look forward to in winter include the tulip (all varieties– Dutch single, Parrot Tulips, and French Tulips), Daffodils (typically in yellow shades), Lisianthus, paperwhites, amaryllis, ranunculus, blue delphinium, iris, and waxflower

As January nears Febuary, other beautiful things are available, like flowering branches. Quince and Cherry, along with flowering Dogwood, are early heralds of the coming spring.

Quince comes in pale pink, vibrant pink, and white:

Cherry blossom is a personal favorite of mine, and I love to work these branches into valentines Day arrangements:
