A continuation of yesterday’s post.

The cocktail tables were dressed in green poly linens and then accented with arrangements both rustic and refined: moss formed the base, then we accented with amnesia, cool water, and faith roses, mums, and mokara orchids with curly willow wisps:

The couple married beneath an arch decorated with grapevine loops, carnations, orchids, and roses:

Another image of the arch

And in pretty black and white:

The aisleway was framed with antiqued white lanterns embellished with flowers:

We had a series of different table centerpieces. The first was a cluster of three pomanders with elevated heights and accented with moss & candles:

The second set was lantern centerpieces covered with flowers & set upon a bed of moss embellished with flowers. Roses & mums wound up the base:

A closer look at the lantern centerpiece:

The pomanders proved a perfect backdrop for a ring shot:

We designed programs and they coordinated with the candy apple favors beautifully:

A tall vase was filled with curly willow lashings then embellished with hanging mini pomanders in purple. The base of the arrangement was accented with glass lanterns filled with candles:

We draped the cake area in organza, then covered the tablecloth in purple petals and embellished with delicate blossoms:

One last look at the cake as we round up the celebration for such a great couple– a lifetime of happiness, Stephen & Taylor!

This past October, I had a beautiful wedding at the gorgeous Belle Meade Plantation. After a week of rainy days and cloudy skies, we reluctantly moved the boxwood gardens wedding indoors– and if I do say so myself, the result was magical. The bride and groom were gorgeous, the father of the bride all smiles as we celebrated the love shared between Taylor & Stephen.

The colors were shades of purple, merlot, and dashes of cream & green– with earthy accents. The overall look was something magical.

The beautiful bride:

The bridal bouquet was comprised of antique purple hydrangea, dahlias, amnesia roses, callicarpa berries, and framed with white hypericum berries:

We embellished the bouquet handle with a strand of pearls that was the bride’s “something borrowed”:

The father of the bride, seeing his lovely daughter (this picture made me get a little teary eyed. Mr. Putnam, you are the best dad in the world):

The boutonierres were composed of fresh acorns, callicarpa berries, hypericum, and manzanita lashings:

We of course fashioned a smaller version for the darling ringbearer

The bridesmaids carried a miniature of the brides bouquet– but we collared theirs in green hypericum for contrast:

Our darling flower girl carried a pomander of purple mums:

Doctors Andrea and Mario selected a beautiful color palatte of ivory, navy, champagne and a kiss of pink with accents of green. The result was a crisp combination of shades that was both elegant & contemporary. I worked with them to create a variety of signature paper goods to complement their day:

The Menu Cards were printed on shimmery gold cardstock:

Their monogram “R” became a central theme in the dinner papergoods, we also incorporated the same header design in the large seating chart organized alphabetically.

The table number cards featured the same color combination and design attributes, and was also printed on shimmery cardstock:

The doctors had a favor of chocolate covered espresso beans that we placed in cool vintage-inspired dispensary bottles and labeled for each guest to serve both as favor & seating assignment. I had a lot of fun making these look like a prescription label:

And now, for flowers
The bride carried a bouquet of ivory hydrangea with accents of cream hypericum & ivory & pink kissed roses:

The bridesmaids all carried a similar style, but with more pink and accents of green:

The bouquets contrasted beautifully with the girls’ navy blue dresses:

The guys had hypericum berry bouts. The grooms was in cream (to match his bride) and finished with antique gold wire:

The centerpieces were a combination of ivory hydrangea, pink roses, and green hypericum berries and white oriental lilies:

We had several series of looks– here’s from the mock-up session we did about a month before the wedding:

I love this image of the cocktail table arrangements:

And, to end on a sweet note: The delicious cake from Dessert Designs was embellished with layers of pink hydrangea accented with green hypericum berries, then topped with a family heirloom cake topper of sweet little birds:

Before we launch into lovely, let me tell you about Andrea and Mario– possibly two of the sweetest people I’ve yet to work with, and also quite amazing. You see, the two are both doctors. Yeah. They work an awful, awful lot, so planning a wedding was a ton of fun for them both, I’m sure. In between dress fittings & floral consults, I’m sure that the two of them wanted to go crazy a few times– or at least catch a good, solid night’s sleep.

Luckily, this fab couple had a fab planner to help pull all the details together– Kristin Kaplan with Simply Stunning Events. She was by their side each step of the way and also helped in working with me to come up with the essential details of the weekend’s festivities. Chris & Adrienne Scott were there to document the rehearsal dinner and wedding, so no special moment was missed.

The night before their wedding, we had a fabulous rehearsal dinner at Marathon Village that was inspired by lush, tropical flowers & hatch show prints. The colors: orange, steel gray, and hints of magenta & green. We wanted to stay far removed from the colors of the wedding (creams, blush, navy & gold with pops of green) so the rehearsal dinner was a very solid departure in style and theme. Hamilton Bartending Services kept the libations in quick supply, and Bacon & Caviar did an amazing job catering the soiree. When guests entered, they found signage that we created that asked them to fill out a nametag and get signed in– the perfect way to let out of town guests and family members get to know each other in a handy way. Each sticker asked the guests their name & their relation to either Andrea or Mario that Brocade designed and printed for the couple. I love the use of informative signage as a means to keep your guests in the know each step of the way.

The invitation that we designed, inspired by a Hatch Show print :

Guest Nametags:

One of the big focal points to the room was this…thing…we lovingly referred to as “The Temple”… it looked like a homage to Mayan Architecture. I had the bright idea to make it a beautiful space with candles & single stems of flowers:

The tables were lovely rectangles covered in white linens with green runners & napkins from Connie Duglin Linens. We did arrangements filled with tropical flowers that the mother of the groom & the soon to be newyweds loved: pincushion protea, dendrobium orchids, torch ginger and birds of paradise along with bells of Ireland and lily grass:

A lovely shot of one of the centerpieces:

And another. The balance of color is achieved by integrating the crisp greens of the spider mums & bells of ireland, then pairing with the bold color of the birds of paradise & the dendrobium for a tropical look without overpowering the senses:

I love the use of lighting in this space– Nashville Event Lighting always does an amazing job.

A wonderful night was shared by all at this beautiful space.

Stay tuned for details from the wedding & reception!

our work along with several of our pals was featured on the Weddings Unveiled Blog: Completely Unveiled. Woohoo! A repost follows, and you can check out the original here

There’s something so Southern about a farm wedding and when event stylist Opulent Couturier sent us this styled photo shoot photographed by Kristyn Hogan at Front Porch Farms in Nashville, we knew we had to share it! We love the long wooden table and bright floral arrangements created by Brocade Designs in vintage cans, mason jars and silver mint julep cups. A palette of gray and yellow is woven throughout the design, with a yellow flower motif appearing on the lovely paper goods created by Sweet Life Designs. Bird nests add a little bit of whimsy, while lemonade served from mason jars, a cotton blossom wreath, an old wire fan and worn case goods give the shoot a vintage feel. We especially love the custom “just married” banner created by etsy seller Bekah Jennings and the inclusion of blue-gray thistle in the arrangements. Thank you to Latrice of Opulent Couturier for sharing this delightful farm-inspired photo shoot with us!
I’m going to editiorialize and add some comments to each series of images

Front Porch Farms is out a rural highway, with the perfect natural backdrop. While the house looks older, it’s actually a new build with every modern convenience. There’s so many perks to hosting your event out here– coupled with scenic vistas, it’s an amazing spot. Our inspiration was a rustic vintage feeling, inspired in a yellow + gray color scheme, with pops of green. I used a mix of wildflowers paired with more refined blooms– like yellow callas– and placed them in vintage-inspired containers found by Latrice of Opulent Couturier. The chalkboard writing is my attempt to convey a similar script to the lovely invites designed by Amber of Sweet Life:

We did two looks for the table- one more wild and rustic, with galvanized container floral runners with Acacia, button mums, and berries paired with the tins, and a second look with vintage mason jars, poppies, acacia, orchids, and stock. I love the integration of china plateware found by Latrice, and her darling little birds in cute nests: precious.

Jars were lined with hydrangea leaves for a rustic look, and I think the florals really popped against the deep dark woodgrain:

a wheatgrass flat embellished with poppies & button mums became the perfect spot for escort cards on display, and our lemonade was embellished with personalised straw monogram markers by Sweet Life Designs.

Catch a glimpse of the bouquets surrounding the amazing cake– love this! with bouts to match; an upstairs alcove became the perfect staging point for a lovely cubbyhole display in vibrant colors and textures:

Beautiful brides in gowns by the Bride Room– they were all breathtaking, and you’d think it was 70 degrees (it barely crested 50) as these ladies frolicked on the yard:

A great day & wonderful shoot!

A while back, I posted a sneak peek of Kristin & Brian’s awesometastic wedding shot by the uber fab McLellan Style I am so stoked to share more little details!
Quick Recap: Bride Kristin is planner extraordinaire of Simply Stunning , hubby Brian Kaplan is wedding photog extraordinaire of Brian Kaplan Photography
When I first met with Kristin last January, we talked about her vision for her wedding day and I developed this Inspiration Board to get us thinking creatively:

A little down the line, I designed their invitations (which I love) and you can read all about on Kristin’s Blog
So, now onto the beautifulness
The bride’s bouquet: <3 <3 <3

I looked everywhere for this lil brooch to accompany the bouquet– It coordinated with the bling on K’s cake:

Brian & Kristin were married at St. Patrick’s Church on 2nd Avenue in Downtown Nashville. Built in the 1880s, the church was the first built for practicing Catholics in Nashville. This beautiful space was appointed simply with aisle markers of ivory fabric & a small pew marker of fresh hydrangea & roses:

A detailed shot of the pew markers:

The ringbearer pillow with moss, button mums, orchids & ribbon. The rings on there are fakes (planner bride Kristin thinks of everything!)

The beautiful bridal party– love this image:

The reception was held at the Country Music Hall of Fame I love that their guestbook was a guitar for guests to sign– how creative and reflective of their shared passion for music

I had cutout “K”s made that we filled in with flowers:

One of my favorite details was the row of moss & cylinders with flowers and small squares with “Ks” in button mums. I love celebrating a new last name!:

Another look at the water wall, as I like to call it:

For the centerpieces, we had a mix of three different looks: the consistent element tying all the pieces together was the incorporation of moss at the bases of all the pieces– even the cocktail table. The look was imbued a rustic sophistication that blended Kristin and Brian’s palate of green, orange, red, and oranges:
Table series A: medium height cylinders wrapped in green silk ribbon and filled with green hydrangea, dahlia, orchids, and roses:

Table Series B: A cluster of cylinder vases filled with colored water:

Table Series C: Large and impressive “trees” that complemented the grand height of the Country Music Hall of Fame:

A long view of the room:

Pairing refined elements (gold chargers, detailed and elegant napkins, champagne satin table coverings) with moss and rustic elements makes for a visually delightful table. A detail of each place setting, with the bride’s placecard (penned by me)

Consistency is important in setting the perfect tone for your decor– here, cocktail tables reflect a continuity in decor elements, with short cylinders of colored water upon moss with a floating candle:

A beautiful event, and my personal favorite wedding of 2009! Congrats, guys.

The second tablescape is a retro-chic Coke table. I love this table! Inside the vintage glass coke bottles, we filled white dendrobium orchids, white stock, white larkspur, white tulips & white freesia…lots of white to pop against the vivid red pintuck satin table linen. For added emphasis– a box of unopened cokes (imagine these as your darling decor AND a themeatic favor):

Sorry for the post delay, ya’ll, life got all crazy-like. So now, we return to the fun that is Cat & Mike’s big day. You can read part I here

Photos by Red Letter Days, unless watermarked with brocade

Pre-wedding, Bride Cat and I got together to do a mock up of her centerpieces for her wedding. There’s a ton of benefits to the mock up– one, it helps you to visualize what you’ll actually see on your wedding day. If the version in your & my mind is somehow divergent from the actual product, a mock-up lets us tweak and change and make any needed modifications pre-event. That way, you’re super happy with the final, finished centerpieces.

The mockup series:

The bride & groom married at Aerial, a rooftop venue in downtown nashville with some pretty cool lounge furniture. The couches were white, and the linens were a beautiful black and white damask. Tall cocktail tables lined the side of the venue facing a view of Shelby Street Bridge. On the taller tables, we had single stemmed spider mums in slender cylinders:

The low tables had square vases with green jade roses & button mums:

Low square vases were filled with bright green button mums:

The aisle was set up in a space that would later become devoted to the dance floor. Black garden chairs were decorated with sprays of curly willow accented with black ribbon and button mums:

Because we had a bit of rain, we had an overhanging tent. The side panels were gathered together and then embellished with some curly willow magic at the end of the aisle:

Along the rail that overlooked lower Broadway, a series of cylinders with flowers were the main focal point:

I, admittedly, was obsessed with the altar/ledge behind and aisle and took a bazillion pictures:

On the ground on either side of the center of the aisle where the ceremony would be performed, I placed large glass vases with curly willow and orchids, which you can see along with some the other detail pics I took:

And one last one:

Right before the ceremony, we had a little rain– I managed to catch this pic and I love it:

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father:

She looked absolutely stunning, and I was behind the glass getting all teary eyed watching her get married to her true love, Mike. Another shot of the gorgeous bride:

The interior of Aerial with green linens and hanging paper lanterns:

The interior tabletops reused centerpieces from along the ledge, as well as cylinders filled with hydrangea, dahlia, bear grass loops & curly willow:

I made a memorial candle surrounded by euphorbia and hypericum berries:

All in all, a beautiful wedding on a perfect day. I close with this image of the bride & groom and their first kiss– thanks so much for letting me be a part of your day, guys!

September was filled with such loveliness and wonderous brides, and I’m super thrilled to be sharing these delightful tales of wedded bliss. One gorgeous (albeit a bit rainy at times) day in September, the lovely Cat & Mike tied the knot on the rooftop of Aerial– overlooking Broadway in downtown Nashville.

Cat met with me soon after I opened the studio (and was super sweet & understanding that I didn’t yet have a consult space–it was still in construction). She’s the cutest & sweetest bride (you’ll see what I mean in a sec) and wanted a gorg wedding inspired with shades of green, white, and black.

So, without further adeu, let’s check out their gorgeous wedding, shall we?

Deets:
Photography: Red Letter Days (all the lovely wedding pics are theirs; the ones I took are noted below them)
Venue: Aerial
Cakes & Deliciousness: Dulce Desserts
Catering & yumminess: Down South Delights
Linens: BBJ

Cat, the lovely bride, had some really awesome ideas about what she wanted for her wedding, and when we first met she shared some of those with me– she loved the look of curly willow, and we thought curly willow going down the aisle would be awesome. She wanted lots of green, with touches of black and white. Green spider mums, orchids, and button mums along with hydrangea became our favorite picks for the flowers. The style: elegant, but naturalistic. Styled, but a little bit frayed about the edges. Damask was a love, love, love, and appeared on her tabletop linens.

+ Personal Flowers +
The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangea, white dahlia, and white dendrobium orchids, hand tied with double faced Earth satin ribbon in white. A side view:

And a full view of the top

My studio shot of the bouquet pre-delivery:

The lovely bridesmaids carried bouquets of green hydrangea, green hypericum berries, roses, and white dahlia, hand tied with double faced satin:

My studio shot of the bridesmaids bouquet:

The darling ringbearers carried pillows made of moss and button mums, with white and black ribbon embellishing:

And there were a total of 4 flowergirls: two carried moss & flower baskets, with handles woven with beargrass, and the other two carried spider mum pomanders:

A shot I took with all the accouterments of the flowergirls:

An entire shot of the beautiful bridal party (the guys bore bouts of green hypericum berries bound with wire):

I’m so excited to share some awesome pics of our holiday open house this past Saturday. All images by the insanely talented and wonderful donald yeager:

Our storefront with new letters:

The decor theme was a modern holiday with snowflakes as a graphic and the colors of ice blue, Caribbean blue, and Tiffany with accents of pistachio. We had a lovely snowflake gobo pattern on the floor & upstairs in the hot cocoa bar area by Nashville Event Lighting

Upstairs, we had an awesome treat bar in the colors of the party theme:

The full table:

Deliciously adorable cupcakes by the Painted Cupcake:

Snowflake cookies by cakes by Shara (magically delicious!):

Amazing snowflake cake by Cakes by Rebecca. Not only are her cakes gorgeous, they taste amazing as well– I am in love with this cake, and now want a winter wedding just to have a snowflake cake:

Cheesecake lolipops drizzled with coordinating colors were from Chefs Market, and they were almost too pretty to eat– almost, though, because they were gobbled up:

Cool printed chocolates from Chocolate Graphics were another neat touch: I love these for a great holiday gift idea or for favors for a wedding: you can custom print with whatever you want!:

Other treats were color coordinated to the event: hersheys kisses, blue & white gumballs, and green and white m&ms, to name a few:
